How to Sustain a Long-Term Relationship?
“To be capable of steady friendship or lasting love, are the two greatest proofs, not only of goodness of heart, but of strength of mind.”
- Paul Aubuchon
English poet John Donne famously wrote in the 17th century that “no man is an island”, likening each person to “a piece of the continent”, arguing for the interconnectedness of all people.
From the time we are born, our life is built upon relationships.
We’ve needed someone to care for us until we are able to care for ourselves.
Our careers are shaped from collaborations and interactions with others.
And many of our significant memories in life involve others sharing those moments with us.
As we get older and experience how easily people move in and out of our lives, it gets harder to sustain relationships for the long haul.
Perhaps relationships don’t last because of physical circumstances, or unresolved differences over time, or people growing apart.
But throughout all the relationships in your life, the common factor is YOU.
How, then, does an individual play a part in cultivating the relationships in his/her life?
What stops you from sustaining long-term relationships in your life?
How can you begin and continue to create lasting relationships with your friends and loved ones?
On 2 May, we have invited Certified Coach Angela Tan to share with us how she managed to transform her relationships and her life. Come and join us to discover how to sustain lasting relationships in your life.
